FISHING IN MONGOLIA IS A TRULY MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE
With nearly 4000 rivers and 16 large lakes, Mongolia’s waters are pollution-free meeaning they are ideal for catching a wide variety of fish.
Even though many of the fish are common to Europe, the ones you will find here are generally much larger and there are more of them. A day on the river is likely to be very rewarding!
The Taimen, the largest of the salmon family and a real challenge to catch. Whereas the average Taimen exceeds 80 cm and 4,5 kg, it is not unknown to catch fish of more than 1.2 metres.
Our fly fishing tour encompasses five rivers: the Shishged, Tengis, Sharga, Khog and Delger Mörön.
Our fishing camp is located in the Darkkhad Valley, North Mongolia, and surrounded by beautiful, untouched countryside. Located on the banks of the Khog River where you can catch Grayling, Lenok and, of course, the mighty Taimen.
The location also means that the Shishged, Sharga and Tengis rivers are easily accessible.
The recently built lodges are 80 m2 and luxuriously furnished and designed to accommodate groups or families.
If you are travelling with your family and they are not as enthusiastic about fishing as you are, we can arrange 4×4 tours for them into the breathtaking Darkhad Valley or excursions to Ulaanbaatar, so that you can concentrate on your catch.
Some fishermen choose to sleep on the banks of the river. The open fire and Mongolian barbecue there are delicious.
ITINERARY
DAY 1
ULAANBAATAR CITY
After your flight arrives in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia:
- Your guide will meet you at the airport
- Transfer to Hotel Bayangol
- Check-in and breakfast at the hotel
- Visit Gandan Monastery, the only active religious site during the communist period. Most Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia were destroyed.
- Lunch in the city
- Afternoon visit to the National Museum of Mongolian History
- In the evening a Mongolian folklore concert followed by dinner
Overnight stay at the Hotel Bayangol.

DAY 2
FLIGHT TO MURUN
After landing at the airport, you will be driven 140 km to Huvsgul lake where you will be able to rest at the lodge.

DAY 3
DRIVE TO DARKHAD SINKHOLE
Before arriving at the fishing camp, you will experience an offroad adventure covering approx. 150 km of spectacular and challenging terrain.

DAY 4
GRAYLING & TROUT FISHING IN THE KHOG RIVER
Overnight stay in fishing huts.

Depending on your fishing achievements and preferred catch.

DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER
- If it has been raining, then you will begin a two day return journey to Murun – bad weather makes the driving more difficult (and exciting).
- If the weather is fair, then you can enjoy another day of fishing before starting back to Murun.

DAY 13
RETURN FLIGHT TO ULAANBAATAR
After arriving in the capital, you will check in to your hotel. During the afternoon you will have free time for sight-seeing, shopping and your own activities before a farewell dinner in the evening
